If there's one thing practically every PureWow editor can agree on, it's how good Merit's beauty products are. I mean, just take a look at Beauty and Cultures Editor Chelsea Candelario's review of the brand's Uniform SPF. Or how about former Associate Fashion Commerce Editor Stephanie Meraz's thoughts on nearly the whole line? Oh, and who could forget the way Editorial Assistant Courtney Mason raved over the Retrospect fragrance? Yeah, we're a little bit obsessed, so naturally, we jumped at the chance to try the brand's brand new cleanser. Read on for my and Candelario's thoughts on the Merit Great Skin Double Cleanse ($32).

But first, you may be wondering, what makes this cleanser stand out from others on the market? Well, it has a two-in-one, bi-phase formula that's meant to be as effective as a makeup remover while gently cleansing your skin, essentially cutting down on the amount of products you have to use anytime you wash your face. The brand says it's gentle enough to use both morning and night (which I've definitely found to be the case!), and was specifically formulated with a pH balance to support a healthy skin barrier.

The cleanser works by combining oat-derived surfactants that work to remove any traces of makeup, sunscreen or other impurities with PHA and plant-derived humectants to exfoliate, brighten and smooth your skin. Here's the fun part: You, the user, actually combine the two phases by shaking up the bottle, causing the formula to foam, expand and change color. It's like a science experiment that leaves you with a better complexion.

Now that we've covered how it was formulated and why, let's get into how the cleanser actually feels. "I usually hate foam-based cleansers, but this one might change my mind. It has a rich lather that I'm able to use two pumps (or four, if I have makeup on) to get the job done. Once I rinse, my skin feels refreshed and clean without feeling super dry before I even apply moisturizer. Plus, there's little to no fragrance which is great for my sensitive skin," shares Candelario. And I have to agree with her. Though it might sound obvious, my skin just feels so clean after I use this—I don't have to go over it with a toner pad or anything afterward to feel like my pores are totally clear.

So if you can't already tell, it's a definite "yes!" on this cleanser from us both. If you've been looking for a do-it-all cleanser that will leave your skin feeling fresh without irritating it, I suggest you scoop up a bottle for yourself right away. Merit, you've done it again.
