There are plenty of celebrity-approved beauty brands out there, but none quite like Westman Atelier. Whether it's at the Met Gala or the Golden Globes, the clean beauty brand is often the secret behind the most memorable red carpet looks. And since even Nicole Kidman counts herself a fan, I had to see if it was worth the hype. Here's my honest review (along with original photos) of seven best-selling Westman Atelier products.

What Is Westman Ateiler?

The brand was created by celebrity makeup artist Gucci Westman in 2018. Her mission was to create products that did more than just color and correct, but help to improve your skin over time. The brand writes, "All of our ingredients are thoroughly safety vetted and responsibly sourced. We constantly research and reassess innovative ways to swap out conventional cosmetic ingredients with safe alternatives." It's a huge hit with celebrities including Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Aniston, to name a few.

How I Tested Westman Ateiler

I was already familiar with one of their most popular products: Baby Cheeks Blush Stick. From there, I did more research on other best-sellers and spent weeks testing out each product, analyzing the quality, pigment and finish.

1. Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Complexion Drops

What We Like

  • lightweight
  • extensive shade range
  • a little goes a long way

What We Don't Like

  • formula separates easily
  • piling may occur

Sunday Riley

I'm not a huge fan of skin tints, but these complexion drops promise to "work with your skin, not over it." I only needed two to three drops to cover my entire skin. (Note: It's essential to shake the bottle well before applying product as the formula separates easily.) It worked well with my fingertips versus a brush and offered even application.

I used shade "Atelier VI" and I was nervous, thinking it was too light. But after a few seconds of blending, it settled nicely with my complexion—removing the redness and minimizing my dark spots/acne scars (though I can see myself going a bit darker, especially for the warmer months). It's packed with tsubaki oil, ginseng extract and pomegranate extract to hydrate, smooth and even tone.

I did notice some piling, so make sure you prep your skin with a hydrating skincare routine and a gripping primer. Also a setting powder is your friend! It will make combo skin less greasy-looking because this serum skin tint is definitely on the dewier side.

Fast Facts

  • Shades: 20
  • Key Ingredients: tsubaki oil, ginseng extract, pomegranate extract

2. Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation Stick

What We Like

  • great as a concealer, foundation or contour
  • creamy formula
  • hydrating

What We Don't Like

  • doesn't correlate to complexion drops

Westman Atelier

While I'm iffy on skin tints, I'm a huge fan of foundation sticks. This one is praised for being a great option for your entire face, under-eyes or contouring. I thought the shade was going to be similar to the drops, but "Atelier VI" was a bit light for my complexion. However, it worked wonders in minimizing dark circles and brightening up the under-eye. The formula has phytosphingosine, a type of fat known to soothe, brighten and calm your skin. As a concealer, it glides nicely across my under-eye with my fingers or a brush. It has a creamy texture that's buildable and blended well with my other products. I did notice some creasing, but nothing a setting powder couldn't fix.

Fast Facts

  • Shades: 20
  • Key Ingredients: squalane, phytosphingosine, berryflux vita

3. Westman Atelier Eye Pods

What We Like

  • buildable
  • velvety formula
  • pigmented

What We Don't Like

  • expensive

Westman Atelier

This eyeshadow trio might be the most expensive of the bunch ($88, folks!), but it makes up for it with pigment and packaging. The Eye Pods come in four different sets, but I went with the "Les Nuits," which is made of a rich black, burgundy and iridescent pink. Whether I wore one or all three, each shade complemented my hazel eyes and really brought out the color.

It has a velvety formula, featuring coconut oil and rice starch that blended all the colors well with a brush. It's a cream-to-powder eyeshadow, however, I didn't deal with any fall outs. I also love the packaging as I can take one pod or all three in the included mini travel pouch. It won't take up much space or spill all over my bag.

Fast Facts

  • Shades: 3 (4 sets)
  • Key Ingredients: rice starch, coconut oil

4. Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Blush Stick

What We Like

  • buildable
  • creamy formula
  • hydrating

What We Don't Like

  • not transfer-proof

Westman Atelier

I did a whole review on my love for this blush stick and it *still* holds up. The "Petal" shade offered a nice pop of color on my cheeks. The creamy formula blended well with just my finger tips, though I do use a brush to buff it out. It's formulated with jojoba seed oil and raspberry leaf extract for hydration, as well as a pigment technology that assures a nourishing color. Since it's so gentle and lightweight, the blush stick can also be used on the lips for a rosy pout. A major plus is that the blush is long-lasting and overall a great option for daily wear.

Fast Facts

  • Shades: 8
  • Key Ingredients: jojoba seed oil, raspberry leaf extract

5. Westman Atelier Lit Up Highlighter Stick

What We Like

  • nice glow
  • gentle formula
  • buildable

What We Don't Like

  • shimmer is temporary

Westman Atelier

If you like the blush stick, but looking for more ~glow~ like Nicole Kidman at the Golden Globes, this highlighter stick should be on your radar. Similar to the blush, I tried the "Petal" shade and it offered a shimmer like no other. You only need one swipe for the color to show and dab gently with your fingertips. It's formulated with vitus vita fruit extract and a ayurvedic oil blend to maintain and support skin's moisture barrier. It's very gentle on the skin and offers the right amount of shine without me looking like a grease ball.

Fast Facts

  • Shades: 4
  • Key Ingredients: vitus vita fruit extract, ayurvedic oil blend

6. Westman Atelier Squeaky Clean Lip Balm

What We Like

  • high-shine
  • nourishing formula
  • pleasant scent

What We Don't Like

  • expensive

Westman Atelier

This lip balm has to be my favorite in the collection. Infused with an oil blend of jojoba, argan and almond oil, it's super hydrating and juicy on the lips. It comes in seven shades, but I was immediately drawn to "Ma Puce." It's a raspberry shade that complemented my complexion and gave me a gorgeous pout. The formula also has shea butter to nourish and soothe lips, along with having a pleasant citrus scent. Oh, and the high-shine was the icing on the cake. The best part is that it lasted all day without drying my lips and losing that much-needed sheen.

Fast Facts

  • Shades: 7
  • Key Ingredients: organic jojoba oil, almond oil, argan oil, shea butter

7. Westman Atelier Lip Suede Matte Lipstick

What We Like

  • smooth texture
  • great color payoff

What We Don't Like

  • a tad drying

Westman Atelier

Believe it or not, this matte lipstick is nourishing and smooth on my lips. Packed with hyaluronic acid, peptides and meadowfoam extract, it locks in moisture without feathering at the end of the day. It also has kaolin clay that gives it that satiny finish that won't budge or smudge. Of course, I tried the "Petal" shade and it was a surprising nude rose that I wasn't mad about it. It glided seamlessly across my lips and pairs well with a lip line for a defined pout.

Fast Facts

  • Shades: 15
  • Key Ingredients: hyaluronic acid, peptides, meadowfoam extract, kaolin clay

The Bottom Line: Westman Atelier Is the Real Deal

I can see why makeup artists, celebrities and reviewers alike gravitate towards this beauty brand. All the products feature clean ingredients like jojoba oil and hyaluronic acid, making it great for all skin types. My favorite products have to be the Blush Stick, Foundation Stick and Lip Balm, which complemented my complexion and worked with (not against) my combo skin. The only downside is some products just weren't my cup of tea (i.e., Complexion Drops and Matte Lipstick)—plus, the brand is on the pricier side, ranging from $38 to $88. But overall, it's worth splurge on a few items. Great recs, Kidman!
