It’s official: Reese’s Book Club has crowned its August pick and it's one you'll want to toss straight into your beach bag (or onto your Kindle). The latest selection is Once Upon a Time in Dollywood by debut author Ashley Jordan and according to Reese Witherspoon herself, it’s a can't-put-down read.

The Morning Show star made the announcement on Tuesday, August 5, via Instagram, sharing that she read the book “in one sitting.” And yes, she’s recommending it as the ultimate summer sendoff.

“I have one great last summer read for you,” Reese said in her video. “It’s funny, it’s real, you feel like you’re talking to one of your best friends.”

Clearly, she’s not alone in loving it. Fans in the comments are raving.

“I absolutely loved it!! Also finished it within two days,” one reader shared. Another wrote, “YASSS!! This book is sooo good!!” A third chimed in: “LOVE!!! This was one of my favorite reads of the year.”

Not to mention, the book is already sitting pretty with a 4.3-star rating on Goodreads. So, what’s the story?

Jordan’s debut follows Eve Ambroise, a rising playwright who, after a rough year and some major life shake-ups, flees to the Tennessee mountains for a “writing retreat” (read: emotional escape). But her plan for solitude gets derailed when she meets Jamie Gallagher, a single dad next door with some baggage of his own.

What starts as a casual fling turns into something deeper, and soon Eve is grappling with whether she’s ready to risk her heart again. There’s romance, vulnerability, a lot of healing and yes, some Dollywood magic woven in, too.

Jordan describes it as an emotional, real and hopeful love story and based on early reactions, it’s resonating big time.

Ready to dive in? Once Upon a Time in Dollywood is available now on Amazon, at your local bookstore or wherever you get your book club fix.
