In the age of streaming, nostalgia, and constant scroll fatigue, it feels like every other week an “old” favorite suddenly finds new life, or a brand-new release takes over the charts overnight. Usually there’s some buildup or hype cycle, but Prime Video’s current #1 movie, Crime 101, seems to have skipped all of that and gone straight to “everyone’s watching it” status.

I was just browsing Prime Video for something to put on for movie night when I spotted Crime 101 sitting comfortably at the top of the list. First reaction: yes, action thriller with a stacked cast, I’m in. Second reaction: how is this the first I’m hearing about it? Especially when we’re talking about Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, and Halle Berry all in one film. That’s not exactly a quiet lineup.

The story follows a master jewel thief (Hemsworth) who’s been pulling off meticulously planned robberies along LA’s 101 freeway, completely baffling law enforcement. Enter a relentless detective (Ruffalo) determined to bring him down. Things escalate even further when a disillusioned insurance broker (Berry) gets pulled into the mix, setting all three on a collision course where everything is on the line.

Crime 101 originally premiered in London on January 28, 2026, was released in the U.S. on February 13, landed on Prime Video April 1 and quickly climbed to the top of the streamer’s most-watched list. And based on audience reactions, it’s not hard to see why.

"Was hooked the whole movie. Don’t know how I had never heard of it but wow. Definitely worth the watch," one viewer shared on Rotten Tomatoes.

Another called it the "Best movie of its kind that I've seen in years." A third added, "Crime 101 was definitely a worthy watch. The movie was smart, well crafted and smoothly directed. The cast and performances were all very top shelf."

Crime 101 is streaming now on Prime Video.
