Looking for a new show to add to your watchlist? Look no further than Dept. Q., which makes its way to Netflix on May 29.  Starring Matthew Goode, Chloe Pirrie and Jamie Sives, this intense British thriller focuses on a brash-but-brilliant cop who becomes the head of a new police department, and is suddenly tasked with leading an unlikely team of misfits in solving the city's biggest cold cases. Created by Scott Frank, the show is based on a series of books from Jussi Adler-Olsen, and if the trailer is any indication, we’ll need to buckle up because it’s going to be a wild ride.

The trailer begins with Goode’s character, Carl Morck, sitting uncomfortably at his therapist's office. “Aren’t you supposed to ask me questions?,” he asks rather solemnly, to which the therapist replies, “How about your best friend that was shot in front of you?”

From there, we get clips of Morck getting his own office, and a deeper look into the high-stakes crimes he and his crew will be dealing with, albeit with a bit of dry humor included. As per the official Netflix synopsis, the shooting referred to in the trailer is one that left a young PC dead and Morck's partner paralyzed, and the new “office” he is seen getting is actually a creepy basement, adding to the intensity of events that are happening.

The synopsis further adds that Morck’s new department is “a PR stunt there to distract the public from the failures of an under-resourced, failing police force that is glad to see the back of him,” and that “Morck starts to build a gang of waifs and strays who have everything to prove, and when the stone-cold trail of a prominent civil servant who disappeared several years ago starts to heat up, Morck is back doing what he does best – rattling cages and refusing to take no for an answer.”

This show seems like it has all the makings of a Netflix Top 10 hit, and I’m definitely setting a reminder on my Netflix calendar for the premiere.

You can stream Dept Q on Netflix beginning May 29.
