Why Is No One Talking About This New Must-Watch Thriller Starring Anya Taylor-Joy?

Sure, there's a lot of great TV to watch right now. I'll assume you've already binged Widow's Bay and Margo's Got Money Troubles and that you're currently working your way through Ride or Die. (No? Just me?) But one show has flown particularly far under the radar—and I'm not sure why.

Lucky on Apple TV is a new must-watch series featuring Anya-Taylor Joy, Annette Bening and Timothy Olyphant. The show follows a con artist named Lucky (Taylor-Joy) who was involved in the stealing of ten million dollars. The problem? Now, some very bad people and the FBI are trying to track her down.

The premise is super solid. The cast is incredible. So, why isn't everybody talking about it? (Get on it, people!)

The first episode immediately throws you into the action, with the show opening on a scene of Lucky being chased down by a gun-toting FBI agent. Does Lucky escape or get caught? Well, you have to wait a while for that, as the show then flashes back to our anti-heroine the night before her current predicament begins. She's in a Vegas hotel room with her hot husband and ten million dollars. What ensues is a fun cat-and-mouse game with lots of fight scenes and plenty of twists.

Taylor-Joy is fabulous as Lucky, a role that is quite a departure from her Queen's Gambit days. And she's up against some major star power.

Bening plays a powerful woman out to track down Lucky and get ahold of the money. Oh, and she happens to be Lucky's mother-in-law. And you though your family dynamics were complicated. From the premiere episode, Bening delivers a chilling crime boss facade, one that I'm very excited to see more of. (And for those who took in the new spinoff series Dutton Ranch, Bening's cold-hearted, head of the family portrayal should seem slightly familiar.)

The cast also includes Timothy Olyphant—who is right now also in The Five Star Weekend starring Jennifer Garner—as Lucky's imprisoned dad. Seems like a life of crime is in Lucky's DNA...
