Morgan Freeman Thriller Hits Netflix Top 10—And It Features Another Mega Star as Well

I’m always game for a Morgan Freeman flick…especially when it’s got another mega star like Angelina Jolie in it as well. Currently on my list is 2008’s Wanted, which has snuck its way into Netflix’s top ten list, proving once again that the demand for older films is huge. While not the most popular movie in Freeman’s catalog, the film drew positive reviews upon its release, and grossed $342 million at the box office. Centering around Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy), an office worker unsatisfied with life and dealing with the murder of his estranged father, Wanted is a wild ride, as Wesley meets a woman (Jolie) who introduces him to the Fraternity, a secret society of assassins that takes its orders from Fate itself.

Leading the organization is Sloan (Freeman), who mentors Wesley and teaches him to tap into his powers. There’s always a catch, however, and Wesley quickly figures out there are more sinister activities going on in the Fraternity. Wanted continues to be well-liked by its viewers, currently holding a 71 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and a 69 percent on the Popcornmeter. "This is without a doubt one of the best movies ever made. It's original, dynamic and keeps the viewer interested. The actors are good AND unique, and it's an overall intense movie with an unexpected plot twist. I know it's a cliche, but I'm going to say it, 'They don't make them like they used to anymore,'" writes one audience member who gave the film a 5-star review.
