In the age of streaming, keeping audiences interested is no easy feat. New shows and movies drop constantly, and what everyone is talking about today can be old news by tomorrow. So when a Netflix film continues popping up in conversations nearly a month after its release, it’s probably worth paying attention. Add in the fact that it’s currently sitting at number 6 on Netflix’s Top 10 movies list, and the buzz starts to make a little more sense.

The movie getting all the attention? Voicemails for Isabelle.

The romantic comedy-drama arrived on Netflix on June 19 and follows Jill (Zoey Deutch), a woman grieving the death of her sister, Isabelle. As a way to cope, Jill begins leaving emotional, rambling voicemails on Isabelle’s old phone number. What she doesn’t know is that the number has been reassigned to Wes (Nick Robinson), an Austin real estate agent who unexpectedly finds himself falling for the woman behind the messages.

On paper, it sounds like a familiar romance setup, but the film seems to be connecting with viewers in a major way. With an 88 percent rating from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, Voicemails for Isabelle has earned plenty of praise. There is one important warning, though: This movie will probably hit you right in the feelings.

Translation? Keep the tissues nearby because the emotional damage is real.

"Absolutely love this film, bundles of laughter and can’t help but have a good cry," one RT user wrote. Another shared, "It made me genuinely laugh. Some tears were shed as well….the best of both worlds really." A third viewer added, "This film made me laugh out loud and cry too!"

The reactions on X have been just as emotional, with viewers saying the movie "completely destroyed me" and "left me sobbing for days."

Still, through all the tears, one thing seems clear: People genuinely enjoyed the film. If you’re looking for a heartfelt watch that balances romance, humor, and a good cry, Voicemails for Isabelle might be your next Netflix pick.

Voicemails for Isabelle is streaming now on Netflix.
