I Just Realized Why 'Off Campus' Star Belmont Cameli Looks So Familiar...& I'm Shook

Hint: It's a reboot of a popular show

If you’ve been keeping up with the latest TV shows taking over pop culture, Off Campus probably already sounds familiar. It’s Prime Video’s steamy sports romance about an aspiring music student and a star hockey player who end up in a fake-dating situation to make her crush jealous. After hearing all the buzz, I finally caved and watched it, and immediately had one thought: I definitely recognize the lead character, played by Belmont Cameli.

In the series, Cameli plays Garret Graham, the Briar University hockey captain. He’s a talented, NHL-bound athlete with that classic broody-but-charming energy, and of course, a few emotional layers hiding underneath the cocky exterior. While watching, I couldn’t shake the feeling of “Wait, where do I know him from?” or thought maybe I’ve just mentally filed him under “brunette heartthrobs I’ve seen on screen at some point.”

Spoiler: it was not just a vibe. I have actually seen him before, and it was in a pretty major reboot: Saved by the Bell.

Yep, Cameli was part of the main cast of the Saved by the Bell revival, which ran for two seasons from 2020 to 2021. And honestly, it makes total sense now why he felt so familiar in Off Campus. In the Peacock series, he played Jamie Spano, the not-so-bright but very lovable captain of the Bayside football team (i.e. another jock).

And that’s not the only credit on his resume.

According to IMDb, Cameli has also appeared in 2025’s Until Dawn, the adaptation of the popular video game, the 2025 crime drama The Alto Knights, and the 2022 Netflix film Along for the Ride.

Going back a bit further, the Illinois native also popped up in a guest role on Fox’s show Empire, just another hit series on his growing list of credits.
