Another day, another record

It’s a good time to be Taylor Swift right now.

An engagement, a new album and a new Spotify record to boot. That’s right, The Life of a Showgirl, which makes its debut on October 3, has already set a new Spotify record just weeks before its arrival. On August 31, the album became the most pre-saved album Countdown Page in Spotify history, breaking a record previously held by Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department in 2024.

Spotify shared the news on its Instagram account shortly after, with a picture of the album cover and confirmation of the record, which prompted instant celebration from her fans. “Mind you, TTPD broke the record ONE day before release, and Showgirl broke it again ONE month before release,” wrote one fan. “The album is not is not out yet, and it’s already breaking records,” added another. And my favorite, “Mother is mothering.”

The Life of a Showgirl was announced right before her record-breaking appearance on Kelce’s New Heights podcast, which became the most-watched podcast premiere ever. Following the appearance, the couple announced their engagement via a joint Instagram post which has garnered over 30 million likes. It was captioned, "Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married."

In July, Kelce spoke a bit about their relationship on the podcast Bussin’ With The Boys. “It gets thrown out there as it's like we're trying to seek attention, every now and then,” he told hosts Will Compton and Taylor Lewan. “But it's like, we're just enjoying life and having fun going to hockey games. Kind of introducing her to some more of the sports world.” He added, “We’re having fun with it, man, being a couple.”

Times are exciting in the Swiftie universe, and I, for one, can't wait until October 3.
