When it comes to movies and TV shows, Hollywood really loves a reboot moment. And honestly? I'm not mad about it. Just think about how many versions of Batman, Romeo & Juliet or The Great Gatsby we’ve seen over the years. In other words, there’s always room for a fresh take, and now, another familiar story is back in the spotlight, and it’s making serious waves on Prime Video. PureWow's VP of News & Entertainment, Philip Mutz, even called it "the best new show." Enter: Young Sherlock.

The mystery series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on March 4 and didn’t take long to climb the platform’s Top 10 rankings. This latest adaptation comes from Guy Ritchie and spans eight episodes, diving into the early days of the legendary detective. Instead of the polished Sherlock we all know, this version leans into his younger, messier beginnings.

According to the official synopsis, "Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man–raw and unfiltered–when he finds himself wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his liberty. His first ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy, culminating in an explosive showdown that changes his life forever. Unfolding in 1870s Oxford and adventuring abroad, the series will expose the early antics of the anarchic adolescent who is yet to evolve into Baker Street’s most renowned resident."

And if landing in the Top 10 isn’t convincing enough, the audience reactions definitely help seal the deal. The show currently holds an 83 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, with viewers sharing some pretty enthusiastic takes:

Even PureWow's entertainment guru, Mutz, gave the show a rave review, saying, "This is the best new show on TV right now. Young Sherlock is such a fun watch. Skeptics shouldn't be turned off by the subject matter—I get it, we've seen the Sherlock story before. But this is a wildly fresh take, focusing on the detective's origin story. What's more, I was a huge fan of Guy Ritchie's show The Gentlemen, and this gives similar vibes, mixing suspense, humor and action with fun twists. 10/10 would recommend."

With that kind of buzz, it’s safe to say this one’s earned a spot on my watch list.
