Moms make the world go 'round, so come Mother’s Day, the pressure to thoughtfully package our love and gratitude into something giftable is real. But—as a mom myself—I know that overthinking it can quickly turn into an oversight: Sunday, May 10, will be here before you know it, which is why now is the time to map out an extra-special activity, but also find the perfect gift. (Even if it’s just a gesture, honoring the occasion matters…a lot.)
That’s where we come in—because whether you’re shopping for mom, nana, your auntie, sister or, eep, mother-in-law, you should never let the day pass without an acknowledgment of the role they play in your life. While we all know finding the right gifts for mom can be tricky (“you’re my greatest gift!” says every mom ever), this is where a bit of thoughtfulness can go a long way. (Even a mom who has everything will shed a tear or two over a personalized gift, like framed art.) The tried-and-true classics also totally count: A luxe box of chocolates or cookies, a beautiful and well-curated flower bouquet, even a cool cookbook are easy ways to say, you matter.
Because when you marinate on that for a minute, she does—and if treating her to one of the items on this list is the best way to shout your appreciation for her superhero abilities (ahem, like how she juggles the mental load), so be it.
