September’s finally here, which means it’ll soon be time to ditch my warm-weather attire. No complaints here. I’m ready to swap out my linens, tanks and thong sandals for cashmeres, cable knits and loafers. If there’s one thing to look forward to when fall arrives—besides pumpkin spice everything and filling your home with ghouls and gords—it’s giving your closet a complete overhaul for the season.

Like any fashionista on a budget, I turn to Amazon for the season’s best affordably priced pieces. But before I fill my cart, I asked PureWow’s Fashion and Beauty Director Deena Campbell for her expert take on which trends to expect this autumn. Unsurprisingly, “This fall, rich, dark colors are taking over, along with textures you actually want to touch, like suede and satin. And after years of squeezing our entire lives into teeny-tiny bags, the big, slouchy hobo is here too,” she reports.

I’m happy to confirm that several of the fall fashion selects below hit those marks and then some, from a pair of Steve Madden mules in a deep chocolate suede to a burgundy shoulder bag from JW Pei that looks like it could be designer. If you’re ready to embrace sweater weather in full force or looking to give your fall capsule wardrobe the upgrade it deserves, start shopping 20 of the best Amazon fall fashion picks below, starting at just $9.

Cardigans and fall go together like bread and butter. Whether you're headed to the office or the pumpkin patch, this lightweight layer, made from a ribbed knit fabric, is well suited for any fall occasion. I love the flattering slim fit and gold buttons adorning the center closure, which give the piece a sense of polish. Style it with barrel jeans or a mini skirt—don’t forget the loafers.

To me, fall is peak time to whip out your coziest sweatpants. Lucky for you, this pair doesn’t sacrifice style for the sake of comfort, touting a unique tulip hem and wide-leg silhouette suitable for everyday outings. PureWow’s Affiliate Director Pam Masin purchased several pairs this summer and praises their versatility and fit. “The length is petite-friendly and the barrel shape makes them look more put-together than other comfy pants I own that are double the price. The fabric is a waffle knit that comes off looking a bit like corduroy, which is exactly what I wanted.” Along with this espresso brown, the pants come in several autumnal shades, including khaki, dark green, mustard yellow and wine red.

A corduroy blazer for fall? You bet. Reviewers appreciate this timeless topper for its slightly oversized fit and high-quality fabric. This find is perfect for breezy days that don’t call for a heavy coat, and with several variations to choose from, you’re bound to find one to match the aesthetic you're going for. Pair it with a preppy sweater to channel your inner dark academia heroine or with a crisp white tee for a quiet luxury look.

Wide-leg jeans have been popular for a few years now, and I predict they’ll never go out of style. This pair with large, retro front pockets comes in several washes and colors and boasts a relaxed fit that Amazon reviewers find to be especially becoming. One buyer writes, “The fit of these jeans is so good and incredibly flattering! They have a great amount of stretch, so they’re super comfortable without losing their shape. I went with the darker denim and love that I can easily dress them up or down. The thicker bottom hem is such a cute detail and really elevates the look.”

I don’t know about you, but once autumn arrives, I’m ready to reach for a trench coat. I’m obsessed with the reimagined design of this style from Orolay (the brand behind that viral Amazon coat), which features a barn jacket-style corduroy collar and cuffs, a longline silhouette and a classic double-breasted closure. Made from a lightweight, water-resistant fabric, it’s equally stylish and functional, and will definitely come in handy on rainy days.

Not to be confused with your kiddo’s dungarees, this jumpsuit reimagines the familiar style with a trendy barrel leg. Thanks to the cotton-blend corduroy fabric, shoppers are praising this one-piece for its comfort, durability and just-right fit. “The material is soft but durable, and they have that perfect vintage look without feeling stiff. The fit is true to size and super comfortable—roomy enough for easy movement but still flattering. I’ve already washed them a few times, and they’ve held up beautifully with no fading or shrinking,” says one Amazon reviewer. I stopped sporting overalls ages ago, but I wouldn’t mind stepping into this pair for a day of apple picking at the orchards. (I mean, what better use could there be for that front bib pocket?)

Looking for a fashion-forward way to upgrade your favorite outfits? Consider adding one of these satin scarves. While scarf skirts added a fun pop of print to wardrobes this summer, fall calls for something more refined. I recommend tying it to your bag or adopting the Parisian way of wearing it as a luxe hair accessory. With a price point under $10 and an offering of many on-trend patterns—including zebra, polka dot and paisley—you’ll find it hard to add just one to your cart.

Even clutches are getting the slouchy bag treatment this fall. Take this woven pouch, for example, which would serve as a great companion to an autumn wedding. It offers plenty of storage for your lip gloss, keys, phone and more thanks to its several interior compartments. It can also double as a cosmetics and travel pouch, with a built-in zippered slot that can hold up to three makeup brushes. Meanwhile, the textured exterior, crafted from a soft vegan leather, gives the impression of a luxury splurge. It'll look incredibly sleek under anyone’s arm.

‘Tis the season for slouchy sweaters, too. Regarded as a fall must-have, this rib-knit jumper delivers a cozy look and feel reviewers can’t get enough of. “The material feels very high quality. I also appreciate that it’s true to size, giving that relaxed fit without needing to size up or down. It’s easy to style and looks effortlessly put-together. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a go-to oversized sweater you’ll reach for again and again,” raves one Amazon buyer. Plus, it comes in a myriad of colors and prints—including a pumpkin and ghost iteration with serious last-minute Halloween costume potential.

Who says you can’t wear minis in the fall? Reviewers assure that this frock’s fabric, for one, is thick enough to keep you warm during a chilly evening soirée. Plus, the long bell sleeves and tie waist add the right amount of pizzazz for a special occasion. “A perfect date night dress for the fall and winter. Definitely short, and will wear with tights underneath. But the fabric is thick without being too heavy and is not sheer or cheap feeling. Could go with so many styles,” writes one happy shopper. I second styling it with sheer tights, and would suggest pairing it with knee-high boots, too. Seems like a fabulous going-out look to me.

Featuring a sleek funnel-neck collar, an adjustable drawstring at the hem and a chic check pattern, this lightweight windbreaker has new fall staple written all over it. The polarizing athleisure style saw a resurgence towards the tail end of spring, and it’s back for another season. I’m particularly fond of how you can dress it up or down depending on your bottoms. Coupled with leggings and sneakers, you’re ready for a quick Trader Joe’s run. With straight-leg jeans and ankle boots, you’re three ciders deep at a fall brunch date with your gal pals. The styling options are endless.

There are so many reasonably priced styles on Amazon that look like they came straight out of a designer showroom. In fact, PureWow editors have found dozens under $100. Though it rings in at about $40 dollars more, this JW Pei shoulder bag also fits the could-be-designer category, exuding an expensive vibe at a very budget-friendly price. The gold hardware against the burgundy vegan leather makes this top-handle purse an ideal fall accessory, and it can provide more than enough room for daily essentials. IDK if I just found your new everyday bag, but I certainly found mine.

I love being draped in plush knits more than I can say, and this piece provides a double dose of ‘em. The ribbed sweater boasts a built-in buttoned scarf (which can be removed as you please), and comes in a decent size range (up to a US 22, per the brand’s size chart). Additionally, I appreciate its casual-but-polished profile that’s perfect for crisp days heading into the office. I’m adding this one to my cart, for sure.

A sturdy A-line skirt is an absolute must for any fall capsule wardrobe. This midi version comes in six colorful tartan patterns, has a stretchy waistband for maximum comfort and reviewers say it drapes beautifully. Not to mention, several petite shoppers assure that it isn’t too long, hitting right above their ankles. Plus, is it just me, or is it giving some major Outlander energy?

If cropped trenches ruled spring, cropped barn jackets are taking back the crown for fall. The gingham accents of this pick add some contrast with a nice vintage touch, while the cropped silhouette feels very modern. One Amazon reviewer raves, “Obsessed with this jacket! Will definitely be wearing this a lot throughout the fall. It’s lightweight and ideal for layering.” That said, I wouldn’t wait to snatch this one up.

You can’t complete your fall closet update without at least one piece of bling. This classy necklace boasts a beaded chain that cascades down to a silver tassel pendant, which is very in line with the 1920s trends we’ve been seeing lately. Of course, this gorgeous accessory could work with a wide range of autumn outfits, not just your flapper cosplay this October. Try adorning it over a comfy sweater dress for some instant glam.

Steve Madden always has incredibly stylish (and inexpensive) footwear each season. I'm currently swooning over these 2-inch-heeled clogs for their blend of boho and Western style. They’re topped with a deep espresso faux suede and embellished with gold studs. There’s no denying that they look good—but how do they feel? Well, as one reviewer writes, “They were comfortable right out of the box with very little break-in time. I wore them for several hours and was pleasantly surprised by how supportive they felt. The fit was true to size for me, and the overall construction seems durable.”

Pro tip: Everyone should have a few double-lined, layer-ready basics in their capsule wardrobe for the colder months, whether it’s in the form of a tank, tee or bodysuit. This off-the-shoulder iteration is made from a thick and stretchy material, comes in several neutral colors and has an overall 4.5-star rating thanks to multiple reviewers’ high praise. “This bodysuit is super comfortable and has been my go-to since I've gotten it. It's really cute and can easily be dressed up or work casually. The material is soft and feels high quality—thick and not at all sheer.” I’m sold.

Animal prints are the new neutral, and if you’ve been on the hunt for a sturdy pair of ankle boots, feast your eyes on these leopard-print beauties. Both fashionable and functional, they offer plenty of support via their thick lug soles, are water-resistant and feature an easy, slip-on construction that you’re bound to appreciate when you’re running late. Bring on the rainy days.

Meet your new workwear staple. Endlessly versatile, a sweater vest can go from prim and proper one day to edgy and menswear-inspired the next. Case in point? This plush button-up, which would look cute on its own, but can be layered on top of a crisp collared shirt and tie for a playful take on the traditional office outfit. The cable-knit detailing in the back is a nice touch that makes it feel especially seasonal.
