Kate Middleton looked the picture of a princess for her appearance at Westminster Abbey for a service celebrating the 80th anniversary of VE Day on Thursday, May 8. For starters, she carried her fave prim and proper Nano Montreal bag from DeMellier London, which she’s worn on several occasions in recent years, including the celebration for the Hold Still book release in March 2025 and the Forward Trust event she celebrated alongside Prince William in November 2022.

Attending the anniversary event alongside husband Prince William and their three children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, Middleton was also sporting the gorgeous Collingwood pearl drop earrings, which have previously been worn by her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. While her earrings were stunning (and historic), it was her elegant black-and-white polka dot dress by Alessandra Rich that really caught my attention.

Though the Princess of Wales has long given the print her royal stamp of approval, polka dots have quickly become one of spring 2025's biggest trends (just as PureWow predicted back in April). Given the response to Middleton's most recent appearance in the pattern, I certainly see no signs of it slowing down this summer—so obviously I'm stocking up on some similar frocks (albeit ones at slightly less royal price points).

Fun, flirty and a little bit retro, this A-line dress is one you’ll instantly fall in love with thanks to its flattering silhouette and quality construction. It's made of a heat-friendly blend of linen and viscose, with a 100 percent cotton lining to keep you cool and comfortable in the summer months (while preventing any undergarments from peeking through). Plus, the included buckle belt is adjustable, so it'll accentuate your waistline while giving you the perfect fit.

A bit more pin-up than princess (in the best way, that is), this polka dot midi is great for a date night thanks to its curve-hugging fit, sweetheart neckline and sexy front slit that shows a little leg. Available in petite, regular and tall sizing, it also boasts a smocked back panel and adjustable straps to keep everybody (and every body) feeling comfy in it throughout the night. As one buyer writes, "Beautiful! I love the material. It’s not tight on the belly area, but it is tighter around the chest which complements my figure."

Classy enough for work but casual enough for a garden party, this pleated pick is bound to get tons of wear this summer. Complete with a comfortably stretchy waist, the frock is made with Fête Chiffon, which the brand describes as a lightweight, semi-sheer fabric with an ethereal drape. IDK about you, but I could totally see Middleton herself donning this number.

This strapless frock can take you from cocktail parties to beachside brunches thanks to its chic drop-waist design and flowy skirt. Per the brand, it features a side seam zipper closure that makes it easy to slip on, and is made of a mid-weight blend of viscose and polyester that should keep you covered while still remaining breathable. It also has a non-slip silicone neckline that should keep everything perfectly upright and in place, even if you're taking a turn on the dance floor.

This shirtdress from Hobbs London is absolutely giving me Middleton vibes. Between the tailored top (with a point collar and pockets) and the airy, pleated skirt, the style is versatile enough to dress up or down, but will keep you looking polished either way. I love that the tie-waist can be adjusted to cinch in the waistline, and that the long sleeves make it an easy transitional piece you can wear well into fall. Worth the investment? I sure think so.
