If you have a long torso, finding a comfortable bathing suit that doesn't ride up or dig in can be a challenge, to say the least (right up there with finding jeans, bras and comfortable sandals). Retailers don’t typically stock all sizes in stores, so you're scrutinizing photos and reviews online, hoping you find something that spares you the hassle of returns, research and starting over. I've been there, and I know I'm not alone.

To spare you all of that back and forth, I've researched, tested and tried several swimsuit brands—and enlisted the help of fellow long-torsoed editors and friends—to curate a list of the top brands making swimsuits for long torsos. From our overall pick (Andie, specifically the Mykonos style, $112) to the trend-forward brand that's surprisingly affordable (Cupshe, from $36), there's a pick to suit every taste, all designed specifically for your body type. Consider yourself one step closer to that carefree day at the pool.

How I Chose the Best One-Piece Swimsuits for Long Torsos

First, I gathered expert and reader recommendations, and scanned the market to identify brands that specifically design swimsuits for long torsos. From there, I looked at how the swimsuits are constructed—because, as someone with a long torso, I can attest that simply having adjustable straps doesn't guarantee a great fit.

Designing clothing for long torsos isn’t as simple as adding a few extra inches, just like designing for plus sizes or larger chests requires more thoughtful construction. Each of the brands below design suits from the start to hit your bust, shoulders, hips and waist in exactly the right spot, so you don’t have to tug or pull your suit into place.

Finally, I cross-referenced each swimsuit with online reviews online to confirm that our positive experience reflects the norm , not the exception. These are the brands that made the cut.

The Best Long-Torso Swimwear Brands

Best Overall Swimsuits for Long Torsos

1. Andie Swim

What I Like

  • all one-piece styles are available in long torso sizes
  • very comfortable
  • flattering designs

What I Don’t Like

  • limited color options

Andie Swim

Multiple editors rave about Andie, and it's easy to understand why: They're incredibly well made, with timeless designs that let you move freely (without worrying about flashing anyone along the way). And when it comes to long torso options, Andie delivers. Every one-piece is available in longer lengths and in sizes ranging from XS to XXXL, roughly 2 to 24.

“The Malibu one-piece is the suit I trust to put on and make me look my best even when I'm not feeling super toned,” says PureWow contributor Dana Dickey. “The extra fabric in the long torso means the rear end of the suit won't be riding up, and the snap-top neckline is modest. This is so comfy, cute and flattering. I wear it for beach workouts as well as for pool sunbathing."

2. J.Crew

What I Like

  • wider size range
  • uses some sustainable materials

What I Don’t Like

  • not every one-piece comes in long torso sizes

J.Crew

J.Crew has long been a favorite for picking up classic, long-lasting suits in gorgeous hues that are actually affordable. Luckily, the brand has expanded its offerings in the past few years and now has multiple styles in numerous colors made specifically for long torsos.

"My favorites are still the OG classics—a ruched bandeau with a removable halter strap and a plunge-front maillot with wide shoulder straps—both of which take into account your longer torso with a longer silhouette, longer straps and bust cups that are placed exactly right," says Abby Hepworth, PureWow's former fashion editor.

3. Boden

What We Like

  • great range of sizes
  • chic styles
  • supportive bust and midsection design

What We Don't Like

  • bottoms can be a bit revealing
  • pricey

boden

I was first tipped off to Boden when PureWow's Editor-in-Chief, Jillian Quint, and Director of Special Projects, Rachel Bowie, both raved about the brand. They love its petite sizing, but it turns out the brand's long styles are equally well designed. The Mykonos style is an across-the-board favorite, with its lightly padded bra cups providing decent coverage and support, and a ruched waist for a more flattering cut.

One thing worth noting is that some say the style is a bit cheekier, so if you prefer fuller coverage bottoms, you may want to pick a different style—or opt for a sarong or shorts if you'll be running around the beach or pool a lot.

4. Cupshe

What We Like

  • affordable
  • trendy designs
  • some styles feature shapewear-caliber support

What We Don't Like

  • leg holes can be a bit snug for curvier bodies

cupshe

Many brands that dabble in long-torso swimwear tend to stick to two styles: a spaghetti strap one-piece and a plunge-neck, often in black, navy and either dark red or green. It's timeless, safe...and can get a bit boring. If you prefer trendier styles, look no further than Cupshe.

The brand currently offers nine different long-torso designs, including several with the brand's Tummy Control and Slim and Sculpt support. As someone who's still working to regain her core after two kids, I appreciate how the thicker, stretchier material offers the streamlined look of shapewear without being constrictive.

Another nice feature: Cupshe lists at a glance which suits are available for "QuickShip," with their estimated ETA if you ordered at that moment. (As someone who's been days away from a trip, only to realize my old swimsuit had lost its elasticity, I really appreciate this feature.)

5. L.L.Bean

What I Like

  • full-coverage/modest designs available
  • some designs include body-shaping support

What I Don’t Like

  • not every one-piece style is available in long torso sizes

L.L.Bean

Another surprise hit, L.L.Bean has numerous one-piece suits (and a few tankinis too) available in long sizing. While most of the suits are pretty classic in style—faux-wrap haltersruched square-neck suits and a simple scoopneck—there are some colorful prints as well, for those who prefer to stand out on vacation. Dickey prefers the L.L. Bean Shaping one-piece, saying, “It has a lot of smoothing and shaping going on for a reasonable price, and the sewn-in bra cups don't pop out or crumple up annoyingly as one so many suits. Also the nice wide straps don't dig into my shoulder like thinner ones do.”

Because these suits were designed for an active beach or pool day, you don’t have to worry about anything falling out or riding up, nor are any of the suits too revealing or sexy. So you can go ahead and confidently join in that beach volleyball sesh.

6. Left On Friday

What I Like

  • tons of color options
  • all one-piece styles are available in long-torso sizes

What I Don’t Like

Left On Friday

Founded by two former lululemon designers, Left On Friday is all about combining premium quality swimwear with an active lifestyle, because nothing should stop you from playing a round of beach volleyball or teaching your kids how to swim—all while dressed in a chic, classic maillot. All of Left On Friday’s one-piece styles come in tall lengths.

"I won’t lie, I’m kind of obsessed with this up-and-coming swimwear brand," Hepworth says. "My top three picks? A subtly sexy spaghetti strap one-piece called the Sunday Suit, which has a supremely classic French Rivera vibe, the Double Scoop, which has thicker straps and an under-bust strap at the back for added support and the Shoreline Suit for a stylish, one-shoulder moment."

7. Summersalt

What I Like

  • uses sustainable and eco-friendly materials
  • inclusive size range
  • flattering fits

What I Don’t Like

  • tends to sell out quickly

Summersalt

This sustainable brand is a PureWow editor go-to for flattering one-pieces that smooth your silhouette without constricting your movement. But even better is the fact that all of the brand’s one-piece suits now come in tall sizes. Summersalt is best known for its bright solids and colorblocked stunners, but it has been branching into more and more patterns, so if dainty florals are your thing, there are lots of cute designs to choose from. And of course, as inclusivity is a big part of Summersalt’s brand identity, all the suits come in the full size range, 2 to 24.

8. ASOS

What I Like

  • lots of trendy silhouettes
  • affordable

What I Don’t Like

  • tends to sell out quickly
  • flimsier construction than others tested

ASOS

ASOS is one of the most size-inclusive (and affordable) retailers out there, with dedicated designs for ladies who are petite, plus-size, pregnant and—you guessed it—tall. While the ASOS Tall collection is designed for women 5’10” and above, shorter gals with lengthy middles can wear these styles just the same. The fashion-forward retailer has lots of sexy low-cut silhouettes, trendy prints and bright hues for you to choose from, and also carries long-torso styles from brands like Topshop and Free Society.

9. Long Tall Sally

What I Like

  • affordable
  • sleek, trend-forward styles
  • designs are made to accommodate taller frames

What I Don’t Like

  • limited style options

Long Tall Sally

It should come as no surprise that a brand entirely dedicated to creating clothing for women 5’8” and taller would include one-piece swimsuits in its lineup. Because the fit experts at Long Tall Sally are super familiar with longer torsos, you know the technical construction and the placement of the adorable patterns will be just right. There are also a few tankini options, if that’s more your style, that will actually cover your middle as intended.

10. Swim Outlet

What I Like

  • great for swim workouts or active days
  • solid variety of brands
  • great range of sizes

What I Don’t Like

  • fewer trend-forward options

Swim Outlet

If you’re looking for a one-piece for working out or racing, Swim Outlet carries brands like Speedo and EQ that offer long-torso friendly styles. It also has a few long plus-size suits, which are definitely a rarity, in sizes 16W through 24W. Even rarer—the brand has a long-torso maternity style as well.

There are definitely some bolder patterns (like this floral square-neck design), but most of the options are sleek, neutral-hued designs that won't feel dated by next summer.

11. Swimsuits for All

What I Like

  • inclusive size range
  • ample reviews
  • vibrant patterns and colors available
  • affordable

What I Don’t Like

  • limited style options
  • designs tend to be more functional than chic

Swimsuits for All

Swimsuits for All is a phenomenal place to shop for plus-size swimwear (and cover-ups and resort wear), including a handful of long-torso styles in sizes 8 to 26. And thanks to the e-retailer’s cult following, every suit has a ton of reviews to read through to help you figure out what size to order and how the suit will wear once it arrives.

And if your taste leans a bit more maximalist, take note: The brand offers plenty of vibrant patterns to help you stand out from the sea of LBS (little black swimsuits) on your next beach vacation.

12. Lands’ End

What I Like

  • inclusive size range

  • affordable

What I Don’t Like

  • limited long torso selection

Lands’ End

Lands’ End may not be the first place you think of for cute swimwear, but it actually has a number of fun prints available in classic minimalist silhouettes. There are also lots of styles that offer extra coverage, like rash guards and board shorts and skorts, ideal if you have a day of surfing, tubing or other water activities planned. It also makes a great range of one-pieces in tall plus sizes (16W through 26W).

13. Quince

What I Like

  • comfortable
  • full-coverage bottom
  • timeless design
  • affordable

What I Don’t Like

  • limited styles available
  • limited sizing

quince

Quince has become our go-to for elevated basics, and that extends to lounging poolside. Its long-torso options are very limited at the moment, but the brand earned a spot on this list because its options are (1) very well constructed and (2) pretty affordable, considering the typical price range for long-torso swimwear. Where other swimsuits can easily cost $100 or more, Quince's options clock in at a hair under $50 ($49.90, to be exact).

"The fit is super comfortable—soft and snug, it feels like something I could easily wear all day," says Executive Managing Editor Catrina Yohay, who has the Italian Cami style (shown above). "The bottom coverage is conservative but not matronly, and the seams stay put, leading me to believe I'll be able to chase after my toddler this summer without fear of flashing everyone at the community pool."

She also notes that there's "zero sheerness," though she does wish the bust offered a bit more support. "Also, the red is giving major Baywatch vibes, which I love!"

What to Look for in Long-Torso Swimwear

Beyond specifically looking for the "long torso," "long" or "tall" designation, there are a few design features that can make for a more customizable (and ultimately, comfortable) fit:

  • Adjustable straps — These provide more support for your bust and prevent the shoulder-sloping tug that one-piece swimsuits can cause, resulting in poor posture (and an aching back).
  • High-Cut Leg Holes — These  visually balance your proportions and allow for a better range of motion overall.
  • Lace-Up or Tie Backs — These let you create a more supportive (but not restrictive) fit along your midsection.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Can You Tell If You Have a Long Torso?

In her quest to finally find a one-piece swimsuit that fit correctly, Dickey also discovered a handy (pun intended) little trick to help shoppers determine whether their torsos are indeed considered longer than average. All you need to do is place one flattened palm underneath your bust line, then your other hand just under it. “If the edge of your lower hand is at your belly button, that’s an indication of average proportions,” says Dickey. “If your belly button is an inch or two below your lower palm—ding ding ding!—you probably have a long torso.”

Is a One-Piece Swimsuit More Flattering?

When it comes down to it, shopping for the most flattering swimsuit often depends on your own personal taste, comfort and body type. People with long torsos may find that one-piece swimsuits designed for long-torso lengths create a lengthening and flattering effect—minus any of the pulling or tugging at the bum. One-piece swimsuits also boast more coverage and support, so it’s a great choice for an active beach-goer, swimmer or modest tanner.
