Now that fall is here, I'm saying bye-bye to sandals and hello to loafers. But not just any loafers. I've been searching for a pair that will add a touch of polished prep to all of my layered outfits.

As it turns out, they've been hiding at some of my favorite brands and retailers for under $200, including Rothy's, Anthropologie and Revolve. If you like the sound of that, you'll love the five loafers on my wish list, including a best-selling style from Sam Edelman that other fashionistas can't get enough of. If a pair of loafers and Mary Janes had a baby, this is what it would look like. In addition to gold-tone buckle accents, they feature a cushioned footbed, which makes them as comfortable as they are chic. And don't even get me started on the almond toe and burgundy leather upper, which lets you incorporate the "It" color of fall into any of your fits.

2. Rothy's The Penny Loafers

SEO and Audience Development Editor Marissa Wu tested several men's loafers and was not disappointed. That said, I have no doubt that Rothy's women's style will live up to the hype. Like most of the brand's shoes, they feature a recycled knit upper and are machine-washable, making them as easy to clean as they are to wear. More importantly, they boast contoured insoles, a rounded toe and a penny-slot detail that lends them a refined touch.

3. Bibi Lou Zagreb Slip-On Loafers

Described as "classy," "extremely comfy " and "very soft," these slip-on loafers have a well-deserved cult following. They feature a leather insole and a rubber sole, which makes them easy to break in. Not to mention, the leather upper is topped off with sophisticated gold or silver hardware, depending on the color.

4. Blondo Platform Penny Loafers

If I got any fashion advice from Emily in Paris, it's that suede and sherpa are the perfect combination. Case in point: These suede loafers, which are soft and smooth on the outside, but plush and warm on the inside, courtesy of some faux fur lining. They're also waterproof (say what?!), so not even rain can crimp your style.

Whoever said you had to give up extra height for a pair of loafers hasn't come across this style at Anthropologie. Between their tassel bow accent, square toe and slip-on styling, they have all the qualities of a forever style. However, their 2-inch block heel is what's calling to this petite writer, along with their dark brown leather upper, which made it onto Pantone's 2025 fall color trend predictions list. Timely yet timeless, gotta love it.
