According to Meraz, who lives on the west side of London, it’s been the summer of the prairie skirt. The fall evolution? She’s already noticing a continuation of the trend via lots of cotton poplin skirts paired with darker fall neutrals (a deep brown, a rich burgundy). Skirt lengths are longer, too, as the season changes. Add a pretty trench or leather jacket and you’re ready for fluctuating temps.

Londoners are reaching for the American classic, but not in the way you might think, says Meraz. They’re pairing them with mini skirts, shorts, even mini-dresses, and she expects the wearability to extend easily into fall. Meraz said she’s noticed quite a few Londoners wearing then tied along the waist of linen trousers. “It’s a fun way to elevate more basic pieces and introduce color, too.”
