20 Frozen Drinks to Make This Summer, Curated by Our @cocktails Team

Blend, baby, blend

frozen drinks cocktails: three frozen cocktails side
Erin Cameron

I’d be lying if I said I don’t wait all year for frozen cocktail season. Come summer, it’s the blender’s time to shine, along with seasonal produce (cherries! watermelon! mango!) and colorful ingredients that are guaranteed to quench your thirst and beat the heat.

I asked the mixology masters behind one of our most popular Instagram accounts, @cocktails, Gallery Media Group’s lead social creator Erin Cameron and associate social strategist Brianna Diaz, to round up 20 of the tastiest frozen drinks they’ve ever tasted. They run the gamut from frosty peach bellinis to icy cosmopolitans to a range of blended espresso martinis—and they prove that a frozen cocktail can be a year-round treat, if you're creative enough (and over 21, of course).

Need I say more? Read on for our favorite recipes.

(Note: The following time commitment and servings information is approximate.)

1. Frozen Aperol Spritz

  • Time Commitment: 5 minutes
  • Why I Love It: <10 ingredients, beginner-friendly, special occasion-worthy
  • Serves: 1

“This cocktail takes the iconic Aperol spritz and turns it into a frozen dream,” Cameron raves. “No wonder it’s one of our top performers! I make it on repeat all summer long.” Can you believe it only needs three ingredients and a spin in the blender to come together?

2. Frozen Raspberry Limoncello

  • Time Commitment: 10 minutes
  • Why I Love It: <10 ingredients, beginner-friendly, <30 minutes
  • Serves: 1

This vibrant sipper is begging for a spot at your next cookout. “I’m obsessed with using limoncello in cocktails,” Cameron admits, “and this one is dangerously good. It’s seriously pretty, too. Serve it in a chic glass for the ultimate summer cocktail.”

3. Frozen Faux-Baja Blast

  • Time Commitment: 10 minutes
  • Why I Love It: <30 minutes, beginner-friendly, <10 ingredients
  • Serves: 2

“Who needs the Taco Bell drive thru when you’ve got this boozy frozen Baja Blast that you can make right at home?” Cameron asks. “It’s so refreshing and made for hot summer days.” You won’t believe how uncanny the combination of blue Gatorade, Mountain Dew and Sprite tastes compared to the real thing.

4. Frozen Cosmo

  • Time Commitment: 5 minutes
  • Why I Love It: beginner-friendly, special occasion-worthy, <10 ingredients
  • Serves: 2

It’s the definition of pretty in pink, and it’s cool, citrusy and chic enough to serve year-round. “This frozen twist on Carrie Bradshaw’s go-to cocktail is made for girls’ night,” Cameron suggests, “and it’s the perfect sip for the new season of And Just Like That.”

5. Frozen Cherry Espresso Martini

  • Time Commitment: 5 minutes
  • Why I Love It: special occasion-worthy, beginner-friendly, <10 ingredients
  • Serves: 2

Earthy, sweet-tart and caffeinated—need I say more? “You might not expect cherries and espresso martinis to be a perfect match, but this combo turned out surprisingly tasty,” Diaz alleges. “A fantastic twist on one of my all-time favorite cocktails!” Be sure to freeze the espresso in advance so you can make one whenever a craving hits.

6. Boozy Frozen Lavender Lemonade

  • Time Commitment: 10 minutes
  • Why I Love It: special occasion-worthy, <10 ingredients, beginner-friendly
  • Serves: 2 to 4

Does it get prettier than this lilac-colored dream? I think not. Its color is courtesy of Empress 1908 Gin, distilled with butterfly pea blossoms. The spirit turns from blue to purple when it’s combined with an acidic ingredient, like lemon. “You get a slight touch of lavender combined with plenty of delicious, boozy lemonade flavor,” Cameron writes. “Feel free to tweak the lavender syrup to suit your taste.”

7. Boozy Sour Watermelon Slushie

  • Time Commitment: 10 minutes (plus soaking time)
  • Why I Love It: special occasion-worthy, make ahead, <10 ingredients
  • Serves: 2

“I’m obsessed with this cocktail, from the color to the garnish,” Cameron says. “Watermelon Sour Patch candies soak in vodka overnight to create the most delicious frozen drink.” So yes, this frozen cocktail recipe requires a bit of forethought, but I promise it’s worth the wait.

8. Boozy Frozen Hot Chocolate

  • Time Commitment: 15 minutes
  • Why I Love It: special occasion-worthy, beginner-friendly, <10 ingredients
  • Serves: 1

“It might be a winter drink, but I think about this boozy frozen hot chocolate all year long,” Cameron raves. “The marshmallow rim really takes it to the next level.” Trust me, this is reason enough to buy that mini kitchen torch you’ve been eyeing.

9. Frozen Passionfruit Martini

  • Time Commitment: 5 minutes
  • Why I Love It: beginner-friendly, vegan, dairy free
  • Serves: 1

“I’m a big fan of passion fruit, and this frozen martini brings together all my favorite flavors,” Cameron states. Feel free to sub tequila, rum or mezcal if rum isn’t your thing; just don’t skip the passion fruit slice (or even just the seeds) on top. Garnishes are everything.

10. Frozen Malibu Sunset

  • Time Commitment: 15 minutes
  • Why I Love It: beginner-friendly, special occasion, <10 ingredients
  • Serves: 1 to 2

It’s like a tequila sunrise, only it stars coconut rum instead of tequila for maximum island energy. “I love a cocktail that looks just as good as it tastes,” Cameron raves. “This one’s fun to make and packed with delicious flavor.” Think pineapple juice, orange juice and just enough grenadine to nail the ombré effect.

11. Frozen Espresso Martini

  • Time Commitment: 10 minutes (plus freezing time)
  • Why I Love It: make ahead, beginner-friendly, special occasion-worthy
  • Serves: 2

If you prefer your espresso martinis classic with no added fruit, look no further than this frothy masterpiece. “These are a summer staple,” Diaz asserts, “and they’re unbelievably easy to make at home. Keep a tray of espresso ice cubes in the freezer, so you’re always ready for an at-home happy hour.”

12. Dracula’s Daiquiri

  • Time Commitment: 10 minutes
  • Why I Love It: <10 ingredients, special occasion-worthy, beginner-friendly
  • Serves: 1 to 2

Gummy fangs FTW. “This spooky twist on a strawberry daiquiri was so fun to create for Halloween, but ditch the spooky stuff and add fresh strawberries, and you’ve got a refreshing sipper for all year long,” Cameron raves. How about that blood-like red honey rim?

13. Frozen Nerds Cluster Cocktail

  • Time Commitment: 10 minutes
  • Why I Love It: special occasion-worthy, beginner-friendly,
  • Serves: 2

What is it about the color blue that’s so damn appetizing, especially in a frozen cocktail? I can’t say for sure…but I know I’d be happy to chug this sweet-and-sour sipper. “I’m all about adding playful candies to cocktails, and this one’s packed with those fun vibes,” Cameron says.

14. Frozen Ombré Lemon Drop

  • Time Commitment: 30 minutes
  • Why I Love It: special occasion-worthy, vegan, beginner-friendly
  • Serves: 2 to 3

“This cocktail takes a little extra effort with three distinct layers, but the end result is totally worth it,” Cameron states. Sink your straw into boozy blends of mango, strawberry and lemonade, creating a sweet-and-sour fusion that deserves to be sipped poolside.

15. Frozen Peach Bellini

  • Time Commitment: 5 minutes
  • Why I Love It: <10 ingredients, beginner-friendly, special occasion-worthy
  • Serves: 1

“I love a cocktail that keeps it simple, and this one only uses four ingredients,” Cameron writes. “And if you’ve got a bag of frozen peaches in your freezer, you’re already halfway there.” Feel free to substitute Champagne or cava for prosecco, if you’re feeling fancy.

16. Frozen Lychee Martini

  • Time Commitment: 10 minutes
  • Why I Love It: special occasion-worthy, vegan, <10 ingredients
  • Serves: 1 to 2

With sweet-tart lychee, bright lemon juice, aromatic elderflower liqueur and fresh mint, this trendy frozen cocktail has garden party written all over it. “This drink was insanely good,” Cameron states. “I keep frozen lychee in my freezer now, just in case I get a craving.”

17. Boozy Cherry Cola Slushie

  • Time Commitment: 10 minutes (plus freezing time)
  • Why I Love It: make ahead, beginner-friendly, <10 ingredients
  • Serves: 2 to 4

“This is the ultimate summertime cocktail in my book, because what’s better than a boozy, frozen cherry Coke on a hot day?” Diaz inquires. (Nothing, if you ask me.) I’ll be topping mine with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, but you could also try a splash of iced joe for a play on coffee cola.

18. Frozen Kinder Bueno Martini

  • Time Commitment: 15 minutes
  • Why I Love It: special occasion-worthy, beginner-friendly, <10 ingredients
  • Serves: 1 to 2

Behold: a liquid (or milkshake-ish) candy bar. “If you’re a fan of dessert cocktails, this one’s a total dream come true,” Diaz alleges. It’s blended with almond milk for extra nuttiness, but my favorite part is the caramel-peanut rim.

19. Boozy Pumpkin Spice Slushies

  • Time Commitment: 15 minutes
  • Why I Love It: special occasion-worthy, no cook, <10 ingredients
  • Serves: 2 to 4

If autumn’s not too cold for an iced PSL, then this frozen cocktail is fair game come fall. “Pumpkin spice season deserves a boozy slushie to go with it,” Cameron notes. “Just dream of a chilly day with one of these in hand.” How cute is that cinnamon-graham cracker garnish?

20. Frozen Espresso Peppermint Martini

  • Time Commitment: 15 minutes (plus freezing time)
  • Why I Love It: make ahead, special occasion-worthy, <10 ingredients
  • Serves: 2 to 3

If you’re looking for a permanent spot on Santa’s nice list, serve him one of these instead of sugar cookies this December. “I’ve made these the past two holiday seasons, and they’re always a hit,” Cameron says. “The peppermint rim adds a festive touch.”
