Trader Joe’s

When it comes to hosting a memorable Thanksgiving, you want mains, sides and apps that stand out—but you also don't want to be cooking so nonstop that you can't enjoy the day. (After all, isn't it the people at our table we're most grateful for? That and a really fantastic slice of pie?)

Trader Joe's has become editors' party-planning MVP for that very reason. The grocery store is loaded with premade staples that can help you pull off a delicious, semi-homemade feast. I'll prove it with this list of my favorite Trader Joe’s Thanksgiving products of all time that will zhuzh up your holiday menu—and on a budget to boot.

But First...Is Trader Joe’s Open on Thanksgiving?

No, your fave grocery store is closed on the holiday every year (love that for their famously friendly employees!), so be sure to get all your shopping done before November 26.

1. Turkey & Stuffing En Croute

Whether you're hosting Friendsgiving or a smaller gathering—or maybe you just don't care for dark meat—this twist on turkey can be a fine substitute for roasting an entire bird. Herb-seasoned turkey is paired with cornbread stuffing and wrapped in puff pastry, resulting in an entire meal in one dish. Don't be surprised if people beg for the recipe. It's your call whether you divulge your secret chef.

2. Sticky Toffee Cheddar

You may have heard of the 3-3-3-3 Rule for an excellent cheese platter, but I've found it's equally important to include one expected flavor in the mix to create a truly unforgettable spread. That's where this cheddar comes in. Diced dates and bits of buttery toffee add sweetness to this creamy, savory cheese, creating a nice blend of flavors (and texture) in each bite.

3. Creamy Corn Pudding

Trader Joe's corn pudding is back, only this year, it has a new and improved recipe that promises to be creamier and cheesier than ever before. Puréed sweet and yellow corn, sour cream, cheddar and Parmesan are all combined and baked to a custardy finish—and all you have to do to enjoy it is give it a quick heat in the oven or microwave.

4. Cornbread Muffins

Maybe you're not into biscuits or dinner rolls with your Thanksgiving spread. Consider cornbread instead—and, if you want to save time, go the store-bought route with this handy four-pack of muffins. They have corn kernels in the batter and a light dusting of cornmeal on top, adding some much-needed texture to the classic side.

5. Maple Butterscotch Blondie Baking Mix

If you're not big on pumpkin or apple, consider fall's other quintessential flavor: maple. These blondies feature an impressively gooey butterscotch swirl, providing a serious wow factor with minimal effort on your part.

6. Meringue Dessert Shells

Just because you're serving a show-stopping dessert doesn't mean it needs to be 100 percent made from scratch. You've got enough on your plate this Thanksgiving, both literally and figuratively, so cut yourself a break with this shortcut. Once you've removed them from the container, all that's left to do is dollop with a little whipped cream, pudding or lemon curd and fresh berries.

Drinks

7. Pumpkin Spice Coffee

Brazil Cerrado Arabica beans are brought to life by pumpkin spice oil, orange peel, vanilla beans and spices. Serve it with a fall dessert (or help yourself to a cup before you start cooking to keep your energy up).

8. Apple Cider

Few things scream autumn like a warm mug of apple cider, and this one's only ingredient is fresh-pressed apple juice. Spruce it up on the stovetop with spices like cinnamon, allspice and cloves, then add a glug of whiskey or spiced rum to your mug to turn it into a fall cocktail.

Appetizers

9. Garlic & Asiago Cheese Dip

"I'll pass on the cheese dip," said no dinner guest ever. Slather it on pieces of baguette, dunk into it with fresh crudités or scoop it up with tortilla or pita chips. This garlicky, nutty delight also pairs seamlessly with sauv blanc...just sayin'.

10. Raclette Sliced Cheese

A cheese board is expected, but not this Insta-famous appetizer. Melt the raclette in a frying pan to scrape onto apples, potatoes, bread or cornichons, as they do in France and at your favorite outdoor holiday market.

11. Pumpkin Bisque

Just *looking* at this soup makes me cozy. And it has a secret ingredient that makes it nutty, decadent and unexpectedly creamy: tahini. (If butternut squash is more your style, opt for TJ's pumpkin-butternut squash bisque instead.)

12. Coastal Cheddar Cheese with Truffle

No Christmas cocktail party is complete without a stacked charcuterie board, and this funky pick is a shoo-in. Hailing from Somerset, England, this cheese has a firm texture, creamy consistency and notable pieces of mushroom and black truffle dappled throughout.

13. Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese Bites

Each bite brings you closer to squash heaven. I'm talking tender roasted butternut and elbow macaroni coated in a luscious béchamel sauce, spiked with cheddar and gouda cheeses. Go ahead, buy two (or three) bags—they won't last long.

14. Cranberry Chèvre Goat Cheese

Tart, tangy and decidedly decadent, this creamy goat cheese can easily play the leading role on your annual cheese plate. Pair it with herbed crackers, fig jam and olives (and add it your list for Christmas dinner).

15. Mini Spicy Pumpkin Samosas

Thanks to their two-bite size, you can totally swap these in for canned biscuits or dinner rolls, or serve them as an app before the big feast. The Indian-inspired pastries are stuffed with spiced pumpkin filling and paneer cheese. Just try not to let them ruin your appetite before the turkey hits the table.

16. Pumpkin Cranberry Crisps

No fancy appetizer spread is complete without an herby, crunchy cracker. Pumpkin in the dough gives the crackers a dense texture and a touch of sweetness, while cranberries cut through with their natural tartness.

Mains & Sides

17. Vanilla Bean Whipped Sweet Potatoes

On the biggest cooking day of the year, a heat-and-eat holiday side is a lifesaver. Heavy cream makes them silky and rich, while brown sugar, nutmeg and vanilla bean paste impart plenty of dessert-inspired flair, minus the mini mallows.

18. Herbed Dinner Rolls

These are a gussied-up version of TJ's standard dinner rolls, which are pillowy soft and destined for your holiday table. A flurry of parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme take them from ordinary to celebratory in a flash. Simply warm them up at 400°F for three to five minutes to give them a homemade feel.

19. Gluten-Free Turkey Gravy

If there are wheat-allergic guests at your table, you can't use all-purpose flour to make a gravy from turkey drippings. Luckily, this Trader Joe's Thanksgiving product saves the day with cornstarch and a flurry of seasonal herbs. Crisis averted.

20. Creamy Mac & Cheese

They weren't kidding—the mac is extremely creamy, and its flavor is more nuanced than the average alternative. The trio of Parm, cheddar and TJ's famous Unexpected Cheddar gives the dish a grassy edge that I adored when I tasted it. The pasta is perfectly bite-size and al dente. Serve it with bread or another carb to soak up all the excess sauce.

21. Root Vegetable Fries

Sweet potatoes, carrots, beets and parsnips are likely suspects when it comes to Thanksgiving—but in fry form? Be still my spud-loving heart. Serve them as a side with a drizzle of tzatziki and sriracha (OK, or ketchup).

22. Harvest Apple Salad Kit

It never hurts to have something green on the table alongside the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, right? This handy kit boasts a leafy spring mix, cheddar cheese, apple cinnamon chips, pecans and apple vinaigrette, so it's simple and seasonal.

23. Cornbread Stuffing

You can't go wrong with this crowd-pleasing classic, especially since all you have to do to prepare the stuffing is pop it in the oven and wait for it to warm through. The bright, sweet-tart notes of the apples and cranberries will add some color and nuance to the expected side.

24. Four-Cheese Scalloped Potatoes

Skip the mushy mash in favor of heat-and-eat scalloped potatoes, swimming in a rich cream sauce teeming with garlic, leeks and four flavorful cheeses. Even picky eaters won't be able to turn it down (that means you, kids' table).

25. Holiday Vegetable Hash

Butternut squash, sweet potatoes, onions, celery and herbs await. Transform the veggies into soup or stuffing, or simply roast them to accompany the main course. Either way, it'll save you time at the cutting board, and that's a win all around.

Desserts

26. Apple Blossoms

At first glance, these single-serve pastries bursting with Northern Spy apple filling and cinnamon crumble may seem like dessert. But I'd argue that they're fair game at dinner too, especially if you're serving pork or herb-heavy poultry. Thank me later.

27. Pumpkin Cheesecake

Why add dessert to your already long list of Thanksgiving chores? Treat yourself to one of these rich, silky, ready-made confections instead and call it a day. Tangy, rich and festive, it'll be doubly as tasty with a hearty drizzle of caramel sauce on top.

28. Teeny Tiny Apple Pies

When it comes to holiday desserts, I'm all in favor of sizing down. Mini treats mean no fighting with your sister over the last slice of anything, and getting to have pecan and apple and pumpkin pies. Oh, and these are undeniably adorable.

29. Pumpkin Ice Cream

Believe it or not, this pint is nearly 20 percent pure pumpkin purée. I'll take a heaping scoop atop a warm slice of sweet potato pie (made with store-bought pie crust, obvi) for an easy dessert, please and thank you.

30. Salted Maple Ice Cream

Vanilla who? This is the most heavenly pairing for a slice of pecan pie. Crafted with real maple syrup and a dash of sea salt, this Trader Joe's ice cream deserves to be topped with warm dulce de leche and a handful of granola.

31. Pumpkin Spice Mini Sheet Cake

It's ridiculously tender, generously frosted and decidedly adorable—what's not to like about this treat? The tangy cream cheese topping is a delicious pairing for spongy, warm-spiced cake. Wash it down with apple cider and thank me later.
