Trader Joe's

Trader Joe, our collective grocery boo, consistently dreams up unique appetizers, foolproof mains, on-trend snacks and seasonal desserts. But if you ask me, he's kicking off alfresco dining season with a robust lineup that will get you psyched for warmer days ahead—and help you spend less time hovering over a stove. I'm talking heat-and-eat dinners, creative sweets and summery sippers, just to name a few.

Below, you'll find ten of my favorite new Trader Joe's items to shop this May, ranging from savory, tom yum-inspired snack mix to Buffalo-ranch popcorn. Give them a look and add your top choices to your shopping list. Meet you in the parking lot in five?

The 8 Best Trader Joe’s Frozen Foods, According to Our Editors

1. Tom Yum Seasoned Snack Mix

Inspired by the Thai soup it's named after, this snack mix is salty, spicy, sour and just a touch sweet. Roasted cashews, fried fava beans, crispy green peas and sticky rice clusters unite in a fragrant spice blend of galangal, chili peppers, lemongrass and Thai lime leaves. Beer me, please.

2. Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken Meatballs

I love loading the grill with chicken thighs and pineapple rings, but this is a faster (and equally delicious) way to go from zero to dinner. Here, ground chicken is combined with dried pineapple, caramelized onions, pineapple juice, ground ginger and tangy teriyaki seasonings. The meatballs are fully cooked, so simply warm them up in the oven, on the stove or in the air fryer or microwave.

3. Okonomiyaki Japanese Vegetable Pancake

This iconic street food is endlessly customizable. While okonomiyaki can call for everything from shaved fish to pork belly, this riff stars cabbage, Japanese yam and scallion in a seasoned egg batter. A savory okonomi sauce and dried tuna flakes merely gild the lily.

4. Organic Margarita Mix

Have you heard? DoorDash just named the margarita the official drink of summer 2025. Of course, Trader Joe is already on the pulse with this no-frills mixer. It stars organic lime juice and concentrate, organic agave syrup and organic natural flavors. All that's missing is tequila.

5. Sour Strawberry Candy Belts

This is the latest, greatest addition to TJ's extensive gummy candy catalog. Crafted by a supplier in Turkey, the long, crimson strips are made with natural flavors and dyed with colors derived from fruit and vegetable juices—no artificial junk here. The summery strawberry scent is as tantalizing as its sweet-and-sour flavor.

6. Buffalo Ranch Popcorn

Buffalo sauce and ranch dressing are like the PB&J of game day—they're simply soulmates. Here, the bold, spicy hot sauce and creamy, herbaceous condiment are transformed into a supercharged spice mix that delivers big chicken wing energy without a moment of messy frying or cooking.

7. Fiesta Salad with Shrimp

Crisp romaine lettuce, seasoned black beans, roasted corn, refreshing pico de gallo, tender shrimp and crunchy tortilla chips are an enticing mélange as it is. Add creamy poblano dressing and fresh lime to the mix, and I'm fully drooling. Go the extra mile with a sprinkle of cotija and sliced avocado.

8. Sparkling Matcha Lemonade

The moment the weather starts to warm up, I start craving lemonade. (It's summer's signature drink, IMO.) The O.G. gets an earthy, fizzy makeover for this canned sipper, courtesy of sparkling water and matcha green tea powder. Might I suggest topping it with a scoop of citrusy sorbet to make it a float?

9. Sweet, Spicy & Tart Chile Lime Flavored, Seasoned Dried Strawberries

Tajín stans, right this way. This unassuming bag of fruit (the product of dehydrating two pounds of fresh strawberries) is seasoned with a bright, lip-smackingly tart mix of cane sugar, chile flakes, salt and concentrated lime juice. Use them to garnish cocktails, vanilla ice cream or fruity desserts (or snack on 'em straight from the pouch).

10. Passion Fruit Meringue Tartelettes

No hate to her, but lemon does not have dibs on this patisserie favorite. Sweet-tart, buttery and ready for their close-up, these tiny treats are made in France. The crispy tart shells are filled to the brim with tropical passion fruit curd before they're crowned with a dollop of fresh meringue and frozen for shipping. Once thawed, you can dig right in.
