Looking for a multi-cooker that doesn’t look like it belongs in a restaurant kitchen—or your dorm circa 2009? Whether you're short on space, deep into batch cooking, or just tired of juggling ten different appliances to get dinner on the table, the Beautiful by Drew Barrymore 10-in-1 Multi-Cooker promises to do it all in one sleek, touch-screen package. Sear, steam, braise, slow cook, simmer, sauté—you name it.

To see if it actually delivers, PureWow SEO Editor Marissa Wu tested the 6-quart machine for a full week, cooking everything from soup to rice to seared chicken thighs. Her verdict? Let’s just say Drew might be coming for the Instant Pot’s crown—and doing it in brass-trimmed, sage green style.

First Impressions

Right out of the box, Wu was impressed. “I got a beautiful sage green color, and I love the brass-inspired hardware… it adds an elegant touch.” But this wasn’t just a pretty face—it was a countertop appliance with substance. The 6-quart nonstick pot was surprisingly deep, lightweight and easy to clean (“easier to wash than a super heavy cast iron or 5-ply stainless steel,” she notes). And while most multi-cookers give off industrial vibes, this one passed the serve-from-the-insert test. “I didn’t think twice about serving food straight from the pot because it looked like a serving dish.”

How it Works

Wu and her roommate—a fellow avid home cook—put nearly every function of the 10-in-1 multi-cooker to the test over the course of a week. “My roommate and I made a variety of meals in it: sautéing ground beef for tacos, making WAY TOO MUCH RICE, braising fish and using the slow cooker function for my last chicken soup of the season,” she says.

Setup was simple—just plug it in and use the touch screen to toggle between preset cooking modes, including sauté/sear, steam, braise, rice, slow cook, simmer, and keep warm. The cooker also allows you to manually adjust the temperature up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on the setting. That temperature control came in handy when searing chicken, which Wu noted still delivered solid results despite the nonstick pot. “Despite being nonstick and not cast iron or stainless steel (both of which I swear on), it managed to give me a decent sear on my chicken and easily cooked my ground beef through.”

That said, while the digital interface is sleek and buttonless, it’s not entirely intuitive right out of the box. “Despite reading the directions, the touch screen was kind of confusing at first,” Wu notes. “It takes a moment to get the hang of it and figure out how to operate...mainly, the power button is also the start button, I think? Which made it hard to tell if I’d turned it off or started the cooking process in some modes.” Still, once she got into a rhythm, she appreciated how streamlined the experience was. “It’s nice because it’s still a one-pot endeavor,” she explains. Everything cooks directly in the nonstick 6-quart bowl, which is deep enough to contain splatter and light enough to lift and wash without hassle.

Functionality

“We were VERY skeptical about the rice cooking function,” Wu confesses. “But in the end… Drew Barrymore… won us over?!” Not only did it cook a massive batch—“super easy and makes a ton”—but the results were genuinely solid. “We need to play with the water-to-rice ratio, but overall, it was cooked through,” she says, adding that the generous size makes it practical for large households.

Another smart detail: The included steamer tray isn’t a flimsy wire rack. “I liked that it wasn't a rack but more a plate with holes so you could actually put food directly on it,” she notes. “Perfect for soup dumplings.” It’s worth mentioning, however, that while the lightweight aluminum build makes it easy to lift, Wu noted that she “wished the lid were translucent” to avoid having to constantly lift it and check.

The Bottom Line

What We Like

  • Sleek, elegant design that looks good on the table
  • Large capacity is ideal for families or batch cooking
  • Sear, sauté and rice functions perform better than expected
  • Steamer tray = soup dumpling-friendly
  • Lightweight and easy to clean

What We Don't Like

  • Slight learning curve with controls
  • Opaque lid makes it hard to check on food without lifting it
  • Materials are so lightweight, it could make the appliance less durable over time

Beautiful By Drew Barrymore

At $80, the Beautiful by Drew Barrymore 10-in-1 Multi-Cooker delivers more than just countertop eye candy. It’s a high-functioning, multi-use machine that’s ideal for home cooks who want the convenience of a slow cooker, rice maker, steamer and searing pan—all in one pot that’s pretty enough to serve from. There’s a bit of a learning curve with the touch screen interface, sure, but once you figure it out, it’s smooth sailing. As Wu puts it, “It’s very beautiful—so I guess it lives up to the name.”
