Ah, Q4: The season when we all try to cram 157 activities (pumpkin picking! Costume parties! Friendsgiving! Your cousin’s Instagram-famous dog’s 3rd birthday!) into three months. Sometimes, you need something that can stop you in your tracks, appreciate the moment and well, literally smell the flowers. A stunning bouquet, delivered to your door, can do just that. (It doesn’t hurt that it also makes for a great last-minute gift or centerpiece for your next dinner party.)

I’ve been ordering and sending flowers since my days as an assistant, and I’ve tested more than 15 delivery services over the years. Of all the brands I’ve tried, these five consistently deliver gorgeous, high-quality fall arrangements on time and with little to no damage.

Most Enchanting Arrangements

1. The Bouqs

The fastest way to elevate your Halloween decor? Head straight to The Bouqs’s Spooky Collection. Wicked, a combination of black roses, merlot scabiosa and white anemones, is both moody and elegant, nailing this year’s kitchen witch trend, while the Noir Calla Lillies feels very Morticia Addams-approved. If you’re looking for something more harvest or Thanksgiving-appropriate, The Bouqs has that covered too. Velvet—a mix of pink roses, red chrysanthemums and mini purple calla lilies—and Cinnamon Spice—an array of bronze mums, peach daisies and roses, yellow spray roses, carnations and pompons—are my top picks for dressing up the dining table.

2. Farmgirl Flowers

If your tastes skew more rustic-romantic, look no further than Farmgirl Flowers. The small business excels in crafting effortlessly elegant arrangements that require little more effort than trimming the stems and popping them in a vase filled with water (and the included plant food packet). There’s no fussing or fighting, and the results look magazine photo shoot-worthy. Belle of the Fallis a personal favorite, with its early-fall blend of garden spray roses, seasonal foliage and small flowers, like statice and French marigolds. Another standout? Fall Together, includes  a lush arrangement of lilies, amaranth, chrysanthemums, roses, spray roses, alstroemeria, foliage and textural accents like rosehips. Even better, Farmgirl Flowers donates $10 from every Fall Together purchase to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance through its With Heart initiative.

3. Eos Blooms

The biggest complaint I hear about buying flowers is that they only last a week or so. If you’re looking for an arrangement you can enjoy for the long haul, it’s worth springing for Eos Blooms. Preserved roses are everywhere, but Eos excels in creating varied arrangements that last up to three years without watering. The Reverie is offered in two color combinations—Champagne and soft pink, though I prefer the more autumnal cerise and marigold blend. It’s the ideal size for a side table or dining room table display. And, at $299, it’s pricey, but depending on the blooms you order, that’s the equivalent of buying one or two arrangements a year that you enjoy for a week, only with this set, you can enjoy them 24/7.

4. 1-800-Flowers

1-800-flowers

Most kids hardly notice flowers. However, weeks after a bouquet of Boo Blooms arrived at my door, my eight-year-old and her friends are still talking about them. The orange and black long-stem roses are striking on their own, but lower your gaze and you’ll notice they’re imprinted with little ghosts and “boo!” messages. It was a surprise-and-delight moment that got kids wondering how 1-800-Flowers did that, turning an everyday moment into a memory.

For a more traditional fall arrangement, check out the Harvest Glow Bouquet—a farmhouse-style blend of orange roses, sunflowers, eucalyptus, red button poms and bronze daisy poms, delivered already arranged (by a local florist) in a wooden vase.

5. FTD

Your aunt just got out of the hospital, you just remembered you’re going to a housewarming party, Thanksgiving just crept up on you—whatever the reason, sometimes you need a last-minute arrangement. And while all of the services listed offer fairly quick turnaround, FTD impressed me with its range of elegant-meets-rustic arrangements available for same-day delivery. FTD works with local florists, who prepare each bouquet fresh, and in my experience, the arrangements consistently match the photos online, regardless of where I send them.

This year, you can’t beat the Autumnal Equinox, both for its lushness, price point and same-day delivery availability. The assortment of snapdragons, roses, hydrangeas, waxflowers and hypericum berries is bright and cheery; a burst of life as the leaves change.
