Ben Stiller’s Daughter Makes 'And Just Like That' Debut—And Her Role Has Major 'SATC' Easter Egg Energy

Sex and the City’s spinoff, And Just Like That, has brought back some of our favorite fashion-forward icons and introduced a fresh new crew along the way. Of course, there’s the return of the original cast—minus Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones—with Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie), Kristin Davis (Charlotte) and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) all reprising their roles. We’ve also met new characters like Nicole Ari Parker’s Lisa and Sarita Choudhury’s Seema, adding modern flavor to the Manhattan mix.

But here’s something you may have missed: And Just Like That just introduced a character who has a surprising (and kind of poetic) connection to the Sex and the City universe.

In episode 10 of season three, Ella Stiller—yes, the daughter of Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor—makes her debut as Mia, the pregnant girlfriend of Brady Hobbes (played by Niall Cunningham). Brady, as longtime fans will know, is the son of Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) and Steve Brady (David Eigenberg), original SATC regulars.

Now here’s where things get cool: Ella’s grandmother is the late Anne Meara, a beloved actress who appeared in Sex and the City as Mary Brady—Steve’s mom! She guest-starred in four episodes during seasons five and six, making her a familiar face in the SATC world. So yes, Ella Stiller just walked onto the set as the possible future daughter-in-law of the very character her real-life grandmother once played. Full circle much?

Sadly, Meara passed away in 2015 at age 85 but her legacy now lives on—literally—within the same storyline. It’s a sweet (and slightly mind-blowing) generational crossover that longtime fans can enjoy.

In case you missed the announcement, showrunner Michael Patrick King confirmed that season three of And Just Like That will be the series’ last. So if you’ve been waiting to catch up, now’s the time.
