Emily Blunt’s New Hair for 'Devil Wears Prada 2' Is So Good, But One Detail Has Me Obsessed

So long auburn...

The hype around The Devil Wears Prada 2 is still going strong—and for good reason. While some fans may prefer to wait and be surprised, others (hi, it’s me) are happily consuming every little update from set. From glimpses of Anne Hathaway back as Andy Sachs to Meryl Streep serving her signature Miranda Priestly death stares, the buzz is keeping fans well-fed. And now? We’ve got fresh photos of Emily Blunt back as Emily Charlton and she’s debuting a bold new look.

On August 14, Blunt was spotted filming scenes in New York City, and this time, her iconic red locks were nowhere in sight. Instead, she was rocking icy platinum blonde hair and honestly, she’s pulling it off effortlessly. Sure, Blunt’s gone blonde before, but this particular shade is a statement. The detail that really has me obsessed? Her roots are left dark, giving the look a modern, lived-in edge that feels very on-brand for an evolved, fashion-world Emily.

And of course, the outfit was giving. Blunt wore a black-and-red striped Coach sweater with an apple-shaped “N.Y.” logo in the center, paired with vibrant red pants and Dior sunglasses. Later, she switched into a black Maison Margiela skirt, tights, and maroon heeled boots, basically, peak chic assistant-turned-fashion-girl energy.

If you need a refresher, Blunt’s character was Miranda Priestly’s sharp-tongued assistant in the original 2006 film. The new hair color could hint at a shift in her character’s arc, especially since just a few weeks earlier (July 29), she was still filming as a redhead. Plot twist incoming?

The Devil Wears Prada 2 will bring back Hathaway, Streep, Blunt and Stanley Tucci, along with new cast members like Lucy Liu, Simone Ashley and B.J. Novak. It’s expected set to hit theaters in 2026.

Now excuse me while I rewatch the original for the 87th time.
