Venus Williams has always been a force—on and off the court. But behind her legendary career and growing business empire is one simple philosophy that keeps her grounded: listen to your body.

In a new interview with PureWow, the tennis icon opened up about how health and wellness remain at the core of everything she does. “Wellness for me starts with listening to my body and giving it what it needs—whether that’s a tough workout, a rest day or a nourishing meal,” she shared. “Taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body.”

That balance is key, especially when you consider Williams’s jam-packed schedule. Between running her businesses (like her interior design firm V Starr and plant-based protein brand Happy Viking) and launching a new podcast with sister Serena, Venus still manages to prioritize her wellness with intention and structure. “Having a daily routine gives me structure-it keeps me grounded, focused and present,” she explained.

Her nutrition routine? Clean and simple with room for the occasional sweet tooth moment. One new staple: Blue Diamond’s premium almond line. “They’re simple—no added oils or artificial flavors—and packed with protein, which helps keep me feeling steady and energized throughout the day,” she said. Venus recently teamed up with the brand for a sweepstakes that offers fans a chance to win a private tennis lesson with her in West Palm Beach. (Yes, you could be volleying with Venus.)

As for the workout that still tops all others? Tennis. “Nothing will beat being on the court and hitting balls,” she says, though she's also a fan of weightlifting and mobility work for keeping her strong and feeling her best.

Her biggest wellness tip? Make choices that "fuel your body and support your goals.” Spoken like a true champion.
