  • Why We Love It: off-the-grid, couple’s retreat, scenic location, nature retreat

If you really want to know what it feels like to live like Bilbo Baggins, rent this 360 square foot underground home. Tucked away in the middle of the woods in Tennessee, this oh-so peaceful hobbit hole promises guests a truly unique and authentic experience in the Shire. Despite its small size, the space does have a full kitchen and bathroom, and according to the glowing reviews, it’s very comfortably furnished. There’s also a large outdoor patio for enjoying the scenic surroundings. However, I’d be remiss not to mention that, due to the remote location of the property, you’ll need to be prepared to go off the grid: there is no TV, no WiFi and very limited cell service here.
