- Why We Recommend It: close proximity to town, private swimming hole, waterfall, architectural design
This spacious and sun-drenched three-bedroom estate—enveloped by juniper, birch and cedar trees—is an architect-renovated oasis that boasts a sprawling outdoor space with a private swimming hole, waterfall and pond. Reviewers describe the property as exceedingly peaceful, and couples who are looking for a nature retreat that isn’t totally off the grid will be pleased to know that this rental is located just minutes away from downtown Woodstock where fine dining establishments, boutiques and art galleries line the streets.
As for specific recommendations, Editor-in-Chief Jillian Quint has a few: “For date night dinner, head to Good Night Woodstock where you can enjoy the best Korean braised filet mignon and cocktails, either in the blush-velvet–and-gold glimmering dining room or outside on the lush patio. Also, The Golden Notebook is truly my favorite independent bookstore. The staff always has great suggestions and while it’s a tight space, you really feel like you could spend hours in there investigating the shelves. Finally, definitely pay a visit to Woodstock Meats. This butcher isn’t cheap, but my goodness are the cuts of steak and fish terrific. They also make some of the best meat rubs and spice combos I have ever used.”
