Last week was a major turning point. Now this week, we slowly move away from taking risks and into reaping the rewards. Mercury retrograde ends on August 11th, wrapping up a review process we’ve been working through since July 18. Though things are getting back on track, it’s best not to rush into anything as the communication planet is moving very slow and won’t be in new territory until 24th. Mercury makes a supportive aspect to expressive Mars on the 14th, a good aspect to clear the fog with some direct communication.

On the 12th, there’s a very auspicious aspect, as Venus meets up with Jupiter in Cancer. This aspect brings good news, and also the opportunity to feel all your big feelings after all the stress and overwhelm from the previous few weeks. (Ah, sweet relief.)

(Horoscopes follow for each sign. If you know your rising sign, reading for that sign too will provide further insight.)

3 Zodiac Signs Always Getting in Their Own Way

Aries (March 21 - April 19)

It’s been challenging to get on the same page with someone over the last few weeks. Whether you’re arguing with your spouse or getting wires crossed with a new lover, you can’t agree—but you’re also missing the point. Communications get harder and then easier once Mercury retrograde ends on the 11th. If you’re feeling frustrated, spend time this week appreciating your home and inner circle.

This week’s mantra: “Comfort.”

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

You’re in the process of clearing out space at home so you can welcome a literal or figurative bundle of joy. It’s been frustrating to focus so much effort at home when you want to be out in the world, but the work you’re doing now will pay off when it brings relief to your schedule. This is a great week to reach out to friends or even host a mini celebration to welcome a new era.

This week’s mantra: “Intimate.”

Cheeky illustration of identical twins with long dark hair and a statement earrings back-to-back, smirking at each other.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

Many travel plans, large and small, have been derailed for you over the past few weeks. After skipping a big out of town wedding and postponing a quick excursion upstate with friends, you’re relieved to realize that you did in fact save some money. As Mercury stations direct on the 11th, you’re ready to get back into some kind of routine while also knowing it can’t be the same routine you had before. Let things change one step at a time.

This week’s mantra: “Gradual.”

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

Money matters have been a major stress point for you all year, and struggling with your cash flow has also meant struggling with your self worth. As Mercury stations direct on the 11th, you have the opportunity to alchemize some of that self doubt into opportunity. In general, you’re feeling very positive and optimistic this week. Things aren’t working out the way you thought, but somehow, it’s all still coming together.

This week’s mantra: “Manifest.”

Cheeky illustration of a woman of Asian-descent wearing a sheer coral top with her hair half-up in pigtail puns, the rest down. She is hugging a lion, who is smirking.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)

Mercury retrograde in your sign has been wreaking havoc on everything from your routines to your relationships to your skincare. If you’re wondering why you’re breaking out for the first time since you were a teenager, you can blame Mercury. The retrograde chaos may also force you to delay your birthday plans, but for once, you’re feeling at peace with what’s out of your control. Thankfully, Mercury retrograde comes to an end on the 11th, and you can slowly come back to your fabulous self.

This week’s mantra: “Surrender.”

Virgo (August 23 - September 23)

The last few weeks of Mercury retrograde have been a deeply existential time for you, Virgo. You’re deep in meditation or contemplation, ready to birth a new era of your life. Know that when you come out of your cocoon, there’s going to be a lot of support for whatever you decide is next. You’ve been worried that you won’t have any friends in this next life phase, but this week proves that you have wonderful people in your corner.

This week’s mantra: “Bloom.”

You’ve known for a long time that you need to move on from certain friendships. But you probably didn’t realize how painful it would be to let them go. You’re also feeling a huge boost in your career and public image this week as projects you’ve been working on for years finally find their audience.

This week’s mantra: “Bond.”

Scorpio (October 22 - November 21)

This week may feel like waking up from a surreal dream. Where have you been? Where are you going? Mercury retrograde has you reconsidering the ways you put yourself out there, and you’re also feeling like hiding away at home. What feels good this week is planning your next adventure whether that’s traveling abroad or taking a class. It’s easy to get stuck ruminating about reaching milestones or achieving success, but what you really need is to expand your mind.

This week’s mantra: “Growth.”

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

Sometimes the student must become the teacher. The last few weeks have had you considering whether you should go to grad school or move to Paris to take cooking classes. As Mercury stations direct on the 11th, you might be feeling an intense urgency around fleeing the coop. This only intensifies when you get some good news around your finances. What’s worth going into debt for?

This week’s mantra: “Abundance.”

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)

The last few weeks have had you deep in your feelings or deep in negotiations, maybe both. You’re ready to make big moves but you can’t do this alone. After Mercury retrograde ends on the 11th, you have a better sense of what resources are actually available. You’re feeling very lucky to have the support of your closest people these days. Without their advice, you might be purchasing a lot of snake oil.

This week’s mantra: “Lucky.”

Cheeky image of a Black woman with blue hair on a light blue background. She's holding blue water in her palms, which is bubbling up and taking shape as her hair.

Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)

Mercury retrograde has had you reconsidering many of your commitments and closest relationships. As Mercury stations direct on the 11th, you’re not ready to call it quits, but you do want to move forward with different terms and conditions. The best way to work through these feelings is to keep moving. Get some exercise! Fill your schedule with things you love! Don’t commit to anything that doesn’t support you.

This week’s mantra: “Respect.”

Cheeky illustration of a gender-fluid white person with short-cropped orange hair. They're wearing a light blue halter top as two bright pink koi fish circle their head.

Pisces (February 19 - March 20)

Mercury retrograde has brought plenty of chaos to your workplace or home office over the past few weeks. Whether you’re training a puppy while filing expense reports or taking on way too much work for an absent coworker, things come to a grinding halt when you need to take a break this week. After Mercury retrograde ends, your task is to take what you’ve learned and build more sustainable routines.

This week’s mantra: “Sustainable.”
