Aries, it’s your Saturn Return

After the tumult that was March and April, May is presenting a clean slate—the breather that I’ve personally been waiting for. But just because the dust is settling doesn’t mean things will be boring. Far from it, actually. (That’s music to my fiery Aries ears.)

Pluto’s in retrograde, a full moon is in Scorpio, a new moon in Gemini promises a huge shift, and most importantly, Aries is in a Saturn Return. With all the cosmic balls in the air, here are the three signs due for a major change in May.

1. Aries (March 21 - April 19)

I would inarguably say that Aries is in for the biggest change—not just in May but for the next three years. Why? If you were born between March 1964 - March 1967 or April 1996 - March 1999, you’re entering or are in a period of the fabled and epic Saturn Return. For those unfamiliar with the term, it’s an astrological phenomenon that takes place every 27 to 30 years, at which point the sixth planet of the solar system returns to the exact place it was the moment you were born. So what does that mean for this fiery sign?

“Saturn will be in Aries through April 2028, so the next three years are about moving away from external validation toward self motivation and sovereignty,” says astrologer Jaime Wright. Think of it as the three years when life comes into clarity as you leave the chaos of your 20s and head into your 30s.

As for big May changes, Wright predicts that Aries will take some risks for new friendships—and bet on themselves. (Psssst: That means now’s a better time than ever to take yourself on a date!) Where money is concerned, resources are flowing, and Wright notes that hedging some big bets will lead to bigger payoffs.

2. Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

Not to be outdone, hedonistic Taurus is in for some fun. “The sun and Mercury spend most of this month in your sign amping up your beauty and self expression,” Wright says. “Once Gemini season begins on the 20th, the urge to pick up extra gigs or launch a side hustle is real and worth it, just try not to burn yourself out!”

The biggest change Taurus will see happens in the financial sector—a new moon in Gemini promises plenty of action, Wright shares. It may come as a raise, or clarity around things in your life like budgets and bets on a side hustle.

3. Leo (July 23 - August 22)

Generous, creative, compassionate Leo: this month is your time to take charge—even if it’s out of your comfort zone. Wright predicts: “May is when all the chaotic moves you’ve been making in your career finally start to make sense.” In some probably unsettling news, you’re going to kiss that straight path good-bye and see the fun in being adaptable. (OK, OK, there might be a learning curve.)

“As your career is growing, you’re also building a lot of momentum in your social life,” Wright adds. “A major vibe shift is coming for your love life. Saturn—the planet that rules over your partnerships, and makes you deeply loyal and committed, sometimes to a fault—changes signs on the 24th. After three years of navigating murky emotional and financial boundaries with Saturn in Pisces, it’s time for Saturn in Aries to bring new relational horizons.”
